Shattered ... Dreams... A collection of photographs taken in Texas about 9 years ago, in color, black and white, 35mm film, with Linda’s SLR camera, in the summer of 2006.
Viola viewed these photos as someone’s life or as someone’s dream; a dream home, a dream farm, or even a dream car. She remembered her own childhood. She reminisced with me about her own life’s Shattered … Dreams! It was in these moments the collection was born. I knew it wasn’t the shattered dream that one’s life left behind, but the dreams of something bigger to leave all that behind. A dream shattered perhaps, but so much more to dream about.
We looked at each picture and discussed what we saw. We might have pictured children, dogs, or a young mother doing her laundry. All shattered by an event. Shattered because of that one event? What might that have been? A storm, a plant shut down, or just time elapsing by. Shattered in an instance or shattered over time? Either way shattered.
View these photos through your own eyes. See what you can find. A rusted out piece of junk suddenly becomes the bus that carried school children to school every single day with Lucy dreaming out the back window. Shattered…no way; a DREAM!
